Bosch Kts 550 Keygen
Hello Steve, and welcome to the Forum.I am a partner in a garage in tooting, London, we employ three mechanics, and work on a wide range of cars. The main makes are Vauxhall, Ford, Peugeot, and VW/Audi.I purchased a Bosch KTS 520 in January 2005, but did also get a demo on the Launch. The main reasons for me not getting the Launch, was that I had read from other users that there where software download problems, (I think this is better now, but I take it you will need broadband.) the small display, and the 'till roll' printer. The KTS came via a firm called TCD, and was packaged with a Pico scope interface, all in a case with a laptop. This now gives me a nice large clear screen, and I print out fault code sheets via the office A4 printer. (And scope traces for that matter.) The whole package cost me £2,500 + VAT.So what do I think of it? Love it at times, hate it at others!
On the down side, it can be very slow to communicate, won't talk to early fords, (Pre 16 pin socket) and has three diffrent communication protoculs, that you have to manualy select. No key programing either. It does at least have a list in the software of what it WILL talk to, which saves booking a car in, only to have to say, 'Sorry, I can't do this one'.

On cars like VW, there is none of this 'Go into block 3' etc when looking at live data. All are listed, and you can select ANY four at a time. These four can then be looked at in a 'Recording' mode. Ideal whilst on a test drive. You also get SOME wiring diagrams, and often technical information on brakes, air con, service light re-sets, diagnostic plug location and, its connections, and many more. This can vary greatly depending on what the car is.Bosch have just released replacements for the 520, (KTS 530) and a software update is also due which is supposed to be easier to use.
TCD is part of ARE motorfactors. They where sold this month to Euro Car Parts, and the old TCD salesmen left and have now set up TDCS. But be carefull, as I have heard that Bosch is NOT going to appoint them as a selling agent. If you want more info, or cantact numbers, just let me know.I'm sure other members will give their opinion of the Launch, and dont forget that BBA sell it, and so can give you a demo. Hi Steve,The only comment I have to make on the KTS is that I believe it is 'timebombed' meaning that if you don't pay your yearly subscriptions then it becomes an expensive door stop.Tony,Must be nice to have a model list you can refer to, to save booking the wrong car in etc Autodiagnos have a list but not one you can rely on I wouldn't care to mention the number of times I have checked the list and then connected up, only to find no comms or no data etc only to be told 'oh, we haven't had that before'RegardsDaveH. Steve,The main Diagnostic guy at ECP's is Garry Phillips.
I have spoken to him a few times already, and he certainly knows his stuff. It will be great if he is the person that gives you the demo.I know that ECP's sold Bosch product before, but what you are describing sounds like the 'TCD' set up similar to what I have, so the chap doing the demo may not be that familiar with it. (unless ECP's also sold it in a case.) Make sure it's not 'old stock' as the Pico was updated last year, and is now USB. (Mine is the earlier model, and has an adaptor to convert the Pico's serial port, to the lap tops USB.)The new Bosch part numbers are Kts530, 540, and 570. The 530 is like my old 520, and is an 'entry level' unit. The 540/570 are both wireless.
This sounds good, but in reality, the unit still has to be connected to the diagnostic socket, and then is 'wireless' communication to the computer. I think I prefer it as mine is now.
(Ie 520/530) The 570 does however come with a two channel scope, but as the Pico is so good, it will be interesting to know ECP's views as to wether the KTS scope is in the same ball park. The software between the three is units is, as far as I know, exactly the same. It's a shame that so far no other members have put their view on the Launch, as I know that many of them do have it. Or, have I put you off already?Ps. What area of the country are you in?
SteveBBA sorted me very nicely with my Launch. Alex is very helpful & pretty honest about its capabilities. Kevin (K & R) is clued up on what’s what. He has the Launch & the Carman amongst others.

I considered the Carman also but Kev made a comment about the launch being very similar to the Carman as far as the Jap & Asian is concerned. That coupled with its other capabilities persuaded me to go for the X431.alex@bba-reman.comDave Hill-Life throws many curved balls at you!I don't know whether I need a good helmet or a bigger bat! Dave.Me cluded up, you must be mistaken. All i can say is there are good and bad points on all after market scanners. But when you moan your scanner can,t do something on a VM just look at the price of the Dealer tool (more expensive than after market) and see how many other VM,s it can do (none most likely). We all expect so much from multi-make Scanners, that we don,t see the scope of what they can do.As this post is aimed at + or - of the KTS my biggest problem is the time bomb.A helpful tip to you all (hopefully) is try to work with your scanner supplier, report all faults and no comms in a helpful way, as it will happen. WIN respect!!!!KEV.'
